Rapid Estimator software modules are products of SDSI Business Systems, Inc. Since its inception in 1984, SDSI has been producing innovative estimating software for small-to-medium sized construction companies. In addition to estimating software, SDSI develops custom applications and offers remote system support to clients on demand.
SDSI Business Systems was founded in Indianapolis by a small group of engineers and former construction professionals who saw a critical gap: estimating software that was either too simplistic or overwhelmingly complex and expensive.
From the very beginning, we committed to three principles that still guide every decision we make:
Over 40 years later, we remain an independent, privately held company. Our flagship product, Rapid Estimator, is used daily by more than 1,200 contractors across the United States and Canada. We’ve also built hundreds of custom Windows applications for clients who needed specialized tools that off-the-shelf software could never provide.
We obsess over edge cases, rounding logic, and audit trails. Your bids are only as good as the data behind them — and we treat that responsibility seriously.
Many of our team members have worked in the field or in estimating departments. We understand the pressure of bid day and the cost of mistakes.
Our customers stay with us for decades. We invest heavily in long-term relationships, ongoing training, and continuous product improvement — not quarterly churn.
Our staff includes former estimators, project managers, software engineers with deep Windows desktop expertise, and support specialists who have been with SDSI an average of 14 years.
We don’t have a huge marketing department. We grow almost entirely through referrals and the reputation we’ve earned one accurate bid at a time.
